150 mill would help the Bad teams obtain better players quicker..Maybe going lower to 130 mill would even the playing field..

well this is something that is going to have to be decided pretty quick because with the yankees their salary is so high that i would have to drop a lot of guys..i was told by the commish that for me to be able to get under the cap that i would be able to drop guys without it counting against me but i think if we drop it much under 150 or really even 150 then im going to have to drop way too many guys. and with signing guys if the salary is only able to be up to 150 then its going to be hard to sign guys since a players salary cannot decrease by more than 10 percent

Have to admit that I have a similar problems with my team. can somebody explain to me what the rules are going to be in that sense, because I would love to keep most of my players.

honestly i think it needs to be kept at 200M..that is what the rules say and i am creating my roster by that number..i will say that i do plan that with thru trades to be under 150 at some point during the year but right now if i have to get that low, i will barely be able to field much of a team

The average MLB payroll on opening day 2011 was $96M. Do we really need a cap of more than twice that? $150M is more than enough.

yeah but you need to look at the teams that are above that..if i take arod jeter cc rivera tex cano grandy that is basically the 100 mill..you cant expect me to drop my payroll but MORE than half..i understand that if we start at say 200 but gradually move down to about 150 mil at the minimum for the payroll but its something that cant happen from the get go since i would barely be able to even field a team

I agree. It will be almost impossible to get a team together, unless I just field a AAA team, what fun would that be? I'm sure we can come up with something. The gradual solution is one option I would be willing to explore.

i definitely want a challenge in this league but if my cap allowed drops by almost 80M from my current salary, well im screwed

for now we will stay at the 200M cap, but we might be gradually dropping it in the future

that works for me and i am going to work on getting it as low as i can this season and since you granted me to drop any players without their contracts counting against me will really work so i should be able to drop it some

sounds good, you guys can start working on roster moves ie: extensions, releases, and things like that, the only thing we will not be doing now will be trading

Can I recommend that the future salary cap is defined? A suggested rule is that the salary cap for the following two seasons is always known. For example, 2012: $200M (current season); 2013: $180M (or whatever it'll be).; 2014: $160M (or whatever it'll be).
That rule will allow owners to know ahead of time how the cap will impact their team. It's vital to trades, projecting roster salaries, etc. If agreed to then the caps for 2013 and 2014 should be set before trading is opened. I'd go so far as suggesting a date be set for defining the out-year cap. For example, November 1, 2012 the salary cap for 2015 will be set.

I would say that we could keep it at a 200M ceiling for the offseason while we are getting set up, but make it 150 once the season starts. That way teams like the Yanks and Phillies could keep all their players and then through trades get under that 150M threshold before the season starts. I jsut think 200M is way too high just because a couple teams have horrible contracts.
