ok so franchise tag means you automatically get them then? then how does the restricted free agent tag work?

Thanks for clearing that up..I thought you get punished for using the tag..Can you continue to use the tag on the same player every year?
On the utility player: American League teams have that player built in where the National League does not..So..
we have to acquire one..So..not going to be much on the free agent market..so I have to hope someone releases a player who will play some or I have to trade for a player.. Does put us at a disadvantage.. If I want someone good, I will probably have to trade one of my better players to get 2 players who play.. I'll figure it out once the World Series is over..

everybody can bid on a Restriced Tagged player and the highest bid after 48 hours can be matched by the original owner(then he will keep the player) or the highest bidder gets the player. so everyone gets 48 hours to bid on the player, then after that the previous owner will get a chance to match it if he wants, as for the Franchise Tag, if you want to keep the tag on the same player u can.
