This is our official draft order for 2012, I based it on the real MLB standings

Can it be updated to reflect this years (2011) standings meaning the Cards and Rangers would have the last picks?

I'm fine with either. I can see how people would want to do the final order as taking the team that wins the WS as the last pick but I can also see how people can argue that it should be based on regular season standings since a team can get hot for a series in the playoffs and beat a team that dominated them in the regular season. I'm fine with either.

since we are nearing the end of the world series shouldn't change the sequence so that the last two teams picking are the rangers and cards?

Make it 6 rounds. No one knows who anyone is after like the 3rd round.

Draft: We will hold a draft each year before the season. The draft will probably last six rounds, and all players drafted in the most currently-finished draft are eligible. The rules on the Draft: "The order is in reverse order of finish from the season just finished. A team has 12 hours to make their pick from the time that the previous team has made their pick. If they do not choose within that time period, then I will make their pick for them, and it will likely not be the player they desire. Players that go undrafted, but have signed a pro contract, are put on waivers in this league. Players that go undrafted, but have not signed a pro contract in real life, will automatically be placed into the next year's draft pool. All players that are drafted have their rights retained indefinitely, until they reach free agency in our league structure.
Draft Pick Trading: Draft picks may be traded before the draft. You can trade them up to 3 days before the draft and you may trade recently-drafted picks as soon as the draft is concluded."
June 6-8 2011 was the last draft that really happened,
June 4-6 2012 will be the next draft..... has not been done yet... we are in NOV 2011... SO per the rules... We will hold a draft each year before the season. The draft will probably last six rounds, and all players drafted in the most currently-finished draft are eligible. The rules on the Draft:
so If I read this right we will be drafting the 2011 draft class before this season starts.. and can draft anyone that was from the class signed or unsigned...... then before the 2013 season starts we will draft the 2012 class etc etc.....
I bring all this up because commish posted the draft order, and then said this is the 2012 draft order.... you could take it as we will be drafting the REAL 2012 draft class or..... we will be drafting in 2012... and the people we will be drafting are the 2011 draft class..... based on the rules above
OR I guess we could have the 2011 draft class on are teams already... have are fantasy 2012 draft for are LG before the REAL draft the one in June 2012... and go by rankings etc on web... I dont care witch one is right, just trying to figure out the correct one...

I was wondering that myself, to me , in my humble opinion there really is only 3 logical solutions , a) we either hold a re-draft of the 2011 draft class that was held last June as soon as we have a complete league (if this is the option then there needs to be a new draft order based on 2010 final Season standings and also I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one, but we all will have to adjust our minors for we all have prospects from the 2011 draft class already on them) b) we have our first league draft next OCT just after world series for the 2012 draft class (which is what this draft order represents) c) we have our drafting each year before spring traing and use a pre-draft class ranking from some outside web based site for our info on the draft. solution b seems to be the simplest and easiest solution to this situation, not to mention this is a first season to a complete league, it gives time for everyone to work through there rosters, players, salaries, before having to get set for a re-draft of a past draft or a pre-draft of a draft that hasn't happened yet in real life. but whatever the ruling is I'll be ready

Picking guys in last years draft wouldn't be fair to teams who signed there guys to major league deals and are on the 40 man roster..Trevor Bauer for Arizona Dbacks and the like..
We would have to have it around the 2012 draft and pick those guys that will be picked..

the real 2012 draft is in June.... then the players have till Aug 15th to sign there deals, ( some players rights still held by teams others will go back in the draft in 2013 if not signed in 2012)
SO we need to figure out what WE do, if a player we draft does not sign with there team in real life... do we just loose the player? do we get a draft pick the next year? Or we could have the draft AFTER aug 15th and only draft players that were signed and drafted by a team..... my 2 cents

Well, first of all, it doesn't Matter what the teams do in real life, it only mattered up until we all joined this league, so even if a team doesn't sign there pick, it doesn't effect us one bit, our teams are our teams, and from this point on we draft who we want to, the only delema really is :when do we have the 2012 draft ? , I say we have it with in a week of the real draft every year, that's the easiest and simplest , it was brought up about last years draft class if a player didn't get signed by his team did the person who has that team in our league get a draft pick or something because of it , I say I sure hope not, that would be unfair to the 29 other GM's , besides all you need to do is sign him, so give him a contract, you don't need to loose him, what they do in real life doesn't mean anything to us now, we run the teams.
